Mission

The Thurgood Marshall Council on Social Justice will honor Justice Marshall’s legacy, by creating an effective 21st century strategy to address systemic injustice in America. The ideal of “a more perfect union” continues to elude America’s democracy. Indeed, the paradigm that has permeated the American psyche since its colonization in the early 1600’s fosters the idea of exploitable or disposable people, those who are seen as ‘other’ or worse—not fully human. These people usually wear Black or Brown hue, but also includes other low income, impoverished and vulnerable communities. The Thurgood Marshall Council on Social Justice will utilize non-partisan advocacy and education to address the societal issues that have resulted in the steady deterioration of the quality of life in these oppressed communities.

Our Goal

To build effective strategies in response to the longstanding and yet increasing disturbances caused by the injustices and neglect of critical legal and social issues. These issues have left our neighborhoods and citizens under attack and defenseless. Our commitment is to seeking constructive paths to advancing social justice in the divergent fields where the attention is most needed.

To collaborate nationwide with established organizations, collectives, and individual visionaries within our communities who recognize and have worked with the many prevailing issues that we are facing.

To act by establishing new regulations and laws designed to protect the community and innocent victims, while illuminating current practices and laws within our legal and socioeconomic system that are biased against our communities.

Marshaling local, state, and national expertise we will deliberate those matters that are negatively impacting our families and our community and develop strategies and recommended positions that will best serve as solutions and preventive actions.
